*The University of Jendouba Participates in the Kick-Off Meeting of the ERASMUS+ “SHIFT-MED” Project*
On 5–6 February 2026, the University of Jendouba (UJ) actively participated in the kick-off meeting of the project Shaping the Future of Universities: Dual Transitions across the Mediterranean (SHIFT-MED), hosted by the Università degli Studi di Napoli Parthenope in Italy.
Funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme (Key Action 2 – KA2), the project brought together representatives from partner universities and higher education institutions in Tunisia, Palestine, Türkiye, and Italy.
The first day focused on strategic alignment and the presentation of the project’s conceptual framework, while the second day was dedicated to operational planning and the implementation of the action plan. Over the course of the two-day meeting, partners reviewed the project’s executive framework, detailed action plans, the distribution of roles among participating institutions, as well as monitoring and quality assurance mechanisms. The meeting concluded with forward-looking reflections and a cultural visit to the Naples archives, further strengthening the cohesion and collaborative spirit of the consortium.
The University of Jendouba was represented by Professor Hassen Kharoubi, Vice-President in charge of Scientific Research and International Cooperation, and Dr. Nadia Jouini, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Management Sciences of Jendouba (FSJEGJ).
Professor Hassen Kharoubi emphasized that UJ’s participation is fully aligned with its strategic vision, recalling that the University has been ISO 14001 certified since 2025. He highlighted that UJ will place its expertise—particularly in environmental management—at the service of the consortium. He further noted that the project will contribute to firmly embedding sustainability principles and digital transformation within the institution, in line with the European Green Deal and the Digital Education Action Plan (2021–2027).
Dr. Nadia Jouini underscored UJ’s strengths in multidisciplinarity, Erasmus+ project engineering and management, as well as its strong commitment to sustainable development. She stressed that SHIFT-MED provides an opportunity to benefit from European expertise—particularly through Italian and Turkish partners—while reinforcing cooperation and skills transfer with Tunisian and Palestinian institutions. This synergy will support the modernization of higher education institutions and enhance competencies related to ecological and digital transitions across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
