**University of Jendouba Strengthens Academic Cooperation with India**
On the morning of Monday, 1 June 2026, Professor Hichem Sebai, President of the University of Jendouba, welcomed Her Excellency Ms. Devyani Uttam Khobragade, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Tunisia. The meeting was attended by Professor Hassan Khroubi, Vice-President of the University, Professor Abdel Sattar El Ati, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Management of Jendouba, as well as several faculty members and administrative staff.
At the outset of the meeting, Professor Hichem Sebai warmly welcomed Her Excellency the Ambassador and highlighted the significance of her visit as a new step toward strengthening cooperation between the University of Jendouba and Indian universities. Particular emphasis was placed on fostering the mobility of students, faculty members, and researchers, thereby creating valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, skills development, and exposure to new academic and cultural experiences. The discussions also addressed prospects for enhanced collaboration in teaching and scientific research.
The meeting further explored ways to support research activities through the establishment of joint research projects between institutions of the University of Jendouba and a number of Indian universities, with the aim of advancing scientific output and opening new avenues for cooperation and innovation.
During her visit, Her Excellency was introduced to the University of Jendouba’s academic journey through a presentation showcasing its major achievements in higher education and research, its participation in national and international events and competitions, and the significant successes it has achieved in recent years. Among the most notable accomplishments are the University's certification under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, as well as the award of the “Marhaba” label.
Her Excellency the Ambassador expressed her appreciation for this initiative and reaffirmed her commitment to further strengthening relations between the University of Jendouba and Indian higher education institutions, particularly in fields of mutual interest. She highlighted agriculture as a strategic sector given its importance in India, while also emphasizing opportunities for cooperation in law, economics, management, and other academic disciplines.
For his part, Professor Hichem Sebai reiterated the University of Jendouba’s commitment to internationalization, in line with its strategic vision and motto: **“University of Jendouba: Towards Global Excellence with Local Roots.”** He noted that the University has significantly expanded its international presence in recent years through the establishment of effective partnerships and the creation of increasing opportunities for students and faculty members to benefit from exchange and cooperation programs with universities and higher education institutions worldwide.
He further emphasized that such initiatives constitute a genuine catalyst for enhancing the quality of education and scientific research, while strengthening the University of Jendouba’s position among leading universities at both the national and international levels.
